The GMB have been consulting with the RFL and clubs on a great number of issues, one of which is the importance of having a full time GMB rep, recognised and resourced within the sport.

The RFL and Rugby League Cares are supporting the GMB Union and the Rugby League Players’ Association (RLPA) in a new full-time appointment as GMB/RLPA Representative. The GMB/RLPA Representative will also inform, consult, and achieve general consensus amongst membership on issues and campaigns relevant to the sport, including working with the RL Cares team of Welfare Officers in their initiatives to build and strengthen the overall welfare programme for players and support staff within all professional clubs that are members of the RFL or participate in RFL competitions.

Application is now open until 7th December 2021, and interviews for those applicants who can demonstrate the essential criteria: (Full GMB@Work and TUC Union Learner Rep training and/or equivalent qualifications, demonstratable experience with regard to the development, understanding and implementation of RFL rules and employment experience within the professional Rugby League sport): will be interviewed in December.
