More than 100 energy workers descended on Parliament today [Tuesday] ahead of tomorrow's budget to demand their voices are heard in the net zero transition.
People from across the UK working in nuclear, offshore, oil, gas, the potteries and manufacturing will meet with MPs and demand changes are done with them, rather than to them
Gary Smith, GMB General Secretary, said:
“These workers have powered our country's industrial past, they are powering the present and they should power the future too."
"To do this they need real world plans developed with unions, industry and the Government working together, to make a success of the energy transition.
“They are here in Parliament today to demand their voice is heard in decisions affecting their livelihoods and communities.
“Their message is clear: change must be done with us, not to us."
