GMB Union has condemned Horizon Academy Trust’s closures at Cleeve, Bilton and Hedon Primary Schools.

Parents and staff were given minimal notice, prompting widespread concern.

GMB Union has launched a petition and calls on Hull and East Riding Councils to intervene.

Liz Marshall, GMB Organiser, said:

“Horizon is making reckless cuts that undermine children’s welfare.

"They're threatening the quality of school meals for hundreds of children in some of Hull and East Riding’s most deprived areas.

“Meals will now be shipped in, putting staff at risk of job losses and reducing flexibility for pupils with dietary needs.

“If they can find £230,000 a year for their CEO, they can afford to keep kitchens open and meals cooked on site.”
