BELFAST AIRBUS WORKERS TO VOTE ON STRIKE ACTION

GMB members will be balloted on strike action following a dispute over pay.

Airbus employs nearly 1600 workers in Belfast.

They produce the wings and the mid-fuselage for the A220 aircraft.

The most recent pay offer from the company was rejected by over 90 per cent of members.

The strike ballot opens on 2 September and closes on 30 September.

Members of Unite the Union will also be balloted on strike action for the same reason.

Alan Perry, GMB Senior Organiser, said:

"GMB members have rejected two previous pay offers, with the latest being in July by 93%.

"Clearly, they are sending a message to their employer that what’s currently on the table simply isn’t good enough.

"These are skilled workers who deserve to be paid a real living wage that reflects their role.

"We remain committed in trying to resolve this matter."
