Regional Training
GMB is at the forefront of the trade union movement in providing education and training for its representatives, branch officers and full-time officials. Our extensive regional training programme offers a package of courses from induction and support training for new representatives to advanced training for more experienced representatives.
Following your election you will be encouraged to attend a scheme of education and training aimed at enhancing your capabilities and skills as a GMB representative, emphasising organisation and recruitment. This initial training will cover health & safety, legal rights in the workplace and equality issues.
Under present legislation, your employer should give you paid release for this training. You can then progress to more advanced training and education opportunities. Watch out for our full range of courses or email Colin Kirkham, National Project Director RERHSO for further details - [email protected].

Because of the rules relating to the funding of Adult Education in England, some TUC Education Centres may only be able to offer places on courses to union reps from certain post code areas.
If a TUC Education Centre cannot accept your application for this reason, please contact your regional TUC Education Officer Adrian Toomey for assistance.
