Fire and rehire remains the main obstacle to a potential settlement from the talks at ACAS, says GMB Union

Members from the GMB Young Members’ Network (YMN), in the region, have agreed to donate £2,000 from their fund to support striking British Gas workers.

GMB Union, which represents thousands of school support staff across the UK, has today slammed Astrea Academy Trust following its announcement that Hillside Primary School in Doncaster is closing to save money. 

Food and supplies worth £12,000 is now being distributed to vulnerable residents by Age UK Barnsley thanks to the fundraising efforts of Barnsley Council staff and the local GMB Union branch. 

GMB members working at British Gas will forge ahead with a second wave of strike action as their appeal to the company to rethink its fire and rehire policy go unheeded.

British Gas should recognise that the only way to end the disruption they provoked is to take fire and rehire pay cuts off the table.

On ‘International Thank You’ day GMB revealed shocking figures showing 60% of NHS staff considering leaving the service - and calls for resources for the overwhelmed service.

Loyal workers have been provoked into this strike by CEO of profitable company and now they will make their voices heard, says GMB Union. 

Decision would have been taken days ago if Government had any respect for science or those working in schools.
