Why is this important?

Amazon offers "jobs of last resort" to the communities where they build their warehouses, currently Inverclyde, Dunfermline, Swansea, Rugeley, Bedford, Peterborough, Hemel Hempstead, Doncaster and Croydon. They employ tens of thousands of people, mostly on temporary contracts and at arm’s length through agencies.

'Seemingly huge differences' between conditions for staff at London HQ and for Yorkshire workers, says GMB.

ASOS today announced plans to create 1,500 jobs in its London HQ just days after GMB, the union for ASOS workers, held a ‘catwalk of shame’ outside the AGM in protest at conditions for warehouse workers in Yorkshire.

Workers at Tangerine, who manufacture Barratt Sherbert Fountains, Butterkist Popcorn and Princess Marshmallows set to walk out over ‘derisory’ pay.

In the coming months - partly thanks to high profile GMB campaigns against bad employers such as Uber and ASOS - Members of Parliament are going to hold an investigation into the future of work and workers' rights.

Heartbroken carers now set to resign from profession they love after Calderdale Council rule change.  GMB, the trade union for foster carers, has expressed anger after Calderdale Council nodded through changes to foster carers’ terms and conditions last night (Wednesday 30th November 2016).   

Union will lobby Calderdale Cabinet Meeting on Wednesday 30th November to oppose proposed changes to carers’ terms and conditions.
