This is a vacancy for candidates with climate change knowledge and experience of trade union bargaining. TUC are particularly keen to receive applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BME) applicants, who are underrepresented in this part of the TUC, but also welcome applications from any candidate.
It is a one-year contract for 28 hours a week, based with TUC Yorkshire and Humber and working with our affiliated unions, especially UNISON, Unite, GMB and UCU. (A secondment of a union officer could be a possible alternative to direct employment). This post will work alongside my role involving unions with the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission, and also alongside 2 Skills Development Officers focused on the South and West Yorks Mayoral Authorities.
The post details will be advertised on the TUC jobs website from 3rd Jan, applications close on 17th Jan and interviews in Leeds take place on Thurs 26th Jan.
The job purpose:
To work closely with the Regional Secretary and other TUC staff and partners including TUC Just Transition and Climate Change Committee and the Y&H Climate Commission to complete a specific piece of work to deliver the Green Bargaining pilot project on behalf of the TUC Yorkshire and Humber region. This will involve supporting TUC affiliates to achieve YHCC Climate Pledge sign-up in sectors related to Buildings Energy and Retrofit, with an initial focus on metro-mayors and local authorities. The project will support affiliates to broker new agreements with major employers on future employment, skills, and investment.
